When they get too tall, that's when we snip and replant just a few centimeters away from the main shoot. This repeated cultivation is how you get those great bushy landscapes as in a dutch planted aquarium.

For example, Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' , or Hygro Compacta will add just enough height and interest without dominating the scene.

Stem plants can be picky when it comes to water conditions. While some are hardy enough to handle a range of parameters, others require more specific pH and hardness levels to really thrive.

For most middle-of-the-road tanks, this is not really an issue.
