A colorful tiny, tiny fish that I regularly keep with dwarf shrimp!
Chili rasboras (often called Mosquito rasboras), are yet another ideal option for your Nano tanks. They display strong schooling behavior, and are extremely peaceful. Because of this easy-going nature, they should not be kept with larger, overly active fish that might steal all the food.
This species (Boraras brigittae) is originally from Indonesia and displays the best coloring and behavior while in groups of 6+. They will grow to a maximum of .8 inch. Among the tiniest adult fish we carry!
They are very easygoing feeders and absolutely love live food such as brine shrimp, Artemia, and other micro fauna. While omnivorous, be sure to feed them a higher protein diet with a bit of vegetable flake here and there. They will readily accept flake and frozen foods as well.
Your Rasboras will be young, without full adult coloration, and about 1/2" long.
Care Parameters:
- Peaceful community fish
- Growth to a maximum of .6- .8"
- Active in all tank levels
- One of the few fish I keep with Shrimp.
Undemanding Water Parameters:
- PH: 4 - 7 (they come from acidic, tannin-rich rivers!)
- Temperature: 68- 82 Degrees
- Hardness: 2- 10 dH
