Gertrude's Blue Eye Rainbowfish are young fish, not fully colored or grown, and are unsexed, so you can’t pick sizes or sexes, sorry!
Pseudomugil gertrudae, or Gertrude's Blue Eye Rainbowfish, can be found in Indonesia, New Guinea, and Australia. It thrives best in large groups with an abundance of planted vegetation, making it an ideal addition to a planted aquarium with floating plants. Adult males showcase yellow and blue bodies with extended and fanned out dorsal and anal fins. Females have a smaller size and may feature orange-yellow hues.
Schools of six or more Gertrude's Blue Eye Rainbowfish flourish in planted, roomy tanks, their coloration intensified by darker substrate. These peaceful fish, doing best with fish of similar size, can be kept with adult dwarf shrimp.
Feed Gertrude's Blue Eye Rainbowfish high quality flake and small frozen/live foods for optimal health/color. Timid fish can be out-competed; ensure it gets its share.
Rainbowfish are widely revered for their hardiness, peaceful nature, and dazzling coloration, making them a go-to species for freshwater aquariums. Gertrude's Spotted Blue Eye Rainbowfish is a remarkable exception, able to remain harmoniously in a tank with adult dwarf shrimp and almost all non-aggressive invertebrates.
