Weeping Moss, or Vesicularia ferriei, is a type of hanging moss that is thought to have originated from China. Its bright green teardrop-like shoots give it a fleshy appearance, and it is best suited for attachment to driftwood, volcanic rock, Cholla pieces or even an advanced moss backdrop.

Weeping moss is another one of those super easy plants all around. It requires very little in the way of light, temperature, or ferts. You will notice faster growth in a higher- maintenance aquarium, of course, but it isn't necessary. This is an excellent starter plant for freshwater aquariums.

These are drifting, low light, and easy care plants. I love them in mine as they are great at sheltering fry and baby shrimplets, plus they do some serious heavy-lifting at biological filtration!

Grown SUBMERGED

Growing requirements:

  • 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ph 6-8
  • Low light intensity.
  • Medium growth speed
  • Co2 not needed

I grow mine completely submerged in community tanks, with minimal fertilizer and average light/ room temperatures. I do have snails in tanks, but no duckweed! If you'd absolutely rather not have snail hitchhikers, definitely look up how to do a bleach dip.

As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there’s always a chance of harmless hitchhikers like snails or dwarf shrimp tagging along with your plants!

I personally keep several beneficial snail species in my tanks, including Colorful Ramshorns, Bronze Bladder and Pond Snails, Mini Rams, and Malaysian Trumpet Snails. These snails stay relatively small, help clean the aquarium, and do not eat healthy plants or cause harm. However, if you’d rather avoid any hitchhikers, I highly recommend checking out our blog on how to safely disinfect aquarium plants before adding them to your tank:
How to Bleach Dip Aquarium Plants Safely

All plants are freshly snipped or harvested and packed right before shipment. I take great care in preparing every order and use methods that have consistently produced the best results over many years in the hobby. A lot of love goes into every package, so please don’t leave your plants sitting in a hot mailbox for too long 🙏

Thank you for looking, aqua friends! 💚

Love the moss!

I was impressed with this portion of weeping moss, a little more than what I was expecting. The packaging was solid, and even after 12 days in transit (almost two weeks!) the moss arrived mostly green and in good shape. The portion size was fair, and now that it's placed in my tank it's doing well, no melt so far.

Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. The moss is healthy and the portion was good. Definitely recommended!
