Tissue cultures are specially grown plants for those who do not want to introduce any pests of any kind to their aquarium. These are grown in specialty labs with zero possibility of algae, snails or any other undesirables, Guaranteed.

A low growing plant with an unusual appearance, the Dr. Seuss plant originates in Taiwan.

It has become much more popular in the last few years, and for good reason!

If the Lorax had a favorite aquatic plant, this would be it.

Simple to propogate, Pogostemon helferi can be grown both immersed and submerged. Simply cut off side shoots and replant-- you'll have a rich hedge in no time!

Be sure to remove the plant from its gel before planting. Simply loosen it with your fingers and wash away under running water. Plant gently as usual.

Growing requirements:

  • 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ph 6-7.5
  • Medium to High light intensity.
  • Medium growth
  • 2- 3" tall
  • Co2 recommended for best growth.

As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there's always the possibility of harmless snail or dwarf shrimp hitchhikers!
