Thai Micro Crabs, also known as 'false spider crabs,' sport the scientific name Limnopilos naiyanetr.
Rare and recently discovered, these tiny, aquatic crabs inhabit a single river in Thailand. Rare to find in pet stores and online, owners wishing to keep them need only a Freshwater tank. No land!
These crabs have a spider-like shape, with long legs and a silvery body and light brown or beige legs. Despite being VERY tiny (hence the "micro" label), Thai Micro Crabs are best suited to experienced nano-aquarists or shrimp hobbyists.Thai Micro Crabs max out at 1/2" (leg-span included). Initially timid, they'll cling to plants/decor and perch on driftwood. They need hiding spots, like caves and vegetation.
They filter-feed like Singapore Flower & Bamboo Shrimp. They will very rarely hunt, but can catch & eat smaller inverts & fish. Exercise caution, despite their typically benign attitude.
