The Spotted Borneo Loach (Gastromyzon punctulatus) is a fascinating freshwater loach. It is distinguished by its gray body, white patches, and sporadic blue accents on its fins.
These are freshwater fish and are suitable for community tanks because of their peaceful nature - they are totally safe to keep with other non-aggressive fish (rasboras, tetras, and other small, peaceful fish), snails, dwarf shrimp, and live aquatic plants for cover (java moss, anubias barteri, etc.).
The spotted Borneo loach is an effective biofilm and algae grazer. It is known to typically accept frozen meaty foods, yet these should only be provided as occasional treats since an excess of protein can be fatal to most biofilm grazers.
This fish will generally consume high-quality dry diets that are full of plant matter; however, it is essential to have natural biofilm and algae growth in the aquarium to ensure the fish's long-term health, otherwise it may slowly starve.
With the right conditions, such as a stable and mature aquarium with strong biofilm and algae growth and a high water flow, the spotted Borneo sucker is a durable and captivating fish.
