This little fish is super chill and perfect for Nano tanks. Even gets along with tiny shrimp!
The Phoenix Rasbora (Boraras merah) is a strikingly beautiful, peaceful, and small nano fish that is perfect for peaceful community aquariums. With optimal care, these fish may display bright ruby red coloration and are often confused with Chili Rasboras. Some experts debate whether they are separate species or just geographic variants.
The Phoenix Rasbora prefers to swim in the top and middle of the tank, but can also be found in the middle and bottom. It gets along with peaceful fish, dwarf shrimp, and larger invertebrates. Keeping it in schools of 6 or more is recommended, with 20 or more being ideal. It thrives in slow, acidic water with plants and dark substrate. Avoid aggressive tankmates.
The Phoenix Rasbora is not a picky eater and loves a varied diet of mostly carnivorous foods like high-quality flake food, pellets, and various live or frozen options such as Artemia, microworms, Tubifex, and chopped bloodworms.
Your Rasboras will be young, without full adult coloration, and about 1/2" long.
