Corydoras Panda belong to the family Callichthyidae, featuring a distinct body shape and bony scutes. Their moniker originates from the Greek word 'Corydoras', which translates to 'helmet skin'. Notably, these fish are widest at the back of the head near the anterior of the dorsal fin.
Corydoras panda, similar to other species of its type, have barbed spines in their pectoral and dorsal fins. Care should be taken when handling this variety, as the barbs can easily become entangled in nets, therefore making it recommended to use soft, fine-meshed nets.
C. panda has 3 sets of barbels for sensory purposes. Its coloring is primarily beige and off-white, with black markings on eyes, dorsal fin, and caudal fin base.
Females of C. panda have broader body shapes & are slightly larger than males. Males have slimmer physiques when viewed from above. Coloration & fin size show no sex differences. Females can reach ~2" max, while males are slightly smaller.
