Fundulopanchax gardneri, or Blue Lyretail Killifish, is ideal for nano/planted tanks. Originating in Nigeria, it lives in slow-moving rivers/persistent swamps. With strict maintenance, it does well with no/low flow.
Keep Blue Lyretail Killifish in a covered tank; they jump!
Floating plants are appreciated for cover. Compatible tankmates include low-flow, peaceful fish & invertebrates not too big to be prey. Avoid tankmates when breeding, as fry will be eaten.
Meaty foods, supplemented with algae/microfauna, make up the Blue Gardner's Killifish diet. These guys have been conditioned to accept flake food, however, small frozen foods (Tubifex, Daphnia, Artemia) and bloodworms of appropriate size benefit the fish. Ideal foods are live/frozen fruit flies.
Unsexed Young fish, so not fully colored or grown.
