"Wonderful addition to our tank. Boiled for a few minute but cholla still floated for a good 12 hours in tank before sinking so give it time! Very fast shipping, will definitely be back for more from this shop!"

Cholla wood is the leftover dried skeletons of a certain type of cactus plant native to the American Southwest, and is an ideal addition to freshwater aquariums, providing natural food, shelter and water conditioning.

It's also a must-have for shrimp tanks, as it provides shelter for breeding, edible bio-films, and wonderful tannins in the water as it breaks down.

FEATURES:

🌱 Organic and Untreated: Cholla wood is organic and untreated, and will eventually break down in the aquarium. This is a completely desirable and natural process, and makes your shrimp and fish feel right at home.

🐟 Ideal for Freshwater Aquariums: Cholla wood is an ideal addition to freshwater aquariums, providing natural food, shelter and water conditioning.

💧 Ph Buffer: Cholla wood is also useful as a Ph buffer in quantities.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  •  2" size
  • Organic and untreated
  • Pesticide free!
  • Pieces will be irregularly cut for a natural look!

HOW IT WORKS:

Just pop them in!

Cholla wood is full of air pockets, and so will float for a few minutes after being added to the tank. However, it will eventually sink, so give it time. Boiling it for a few minutes can also help it to sink faster.

These stumps are excellent for aquascaping. Use clear sewing thread to attach creeping plants or mosses such as Java, Bucephelandra, Pearlweed, Susswassertang and on! I have even created interesting focal points by using them as a "pot" for larger stem plants like Rotala, Swords, and larger crypts.

FAQ:

Q: How long will the Cholla wood last in the aquarium?

A: Depending upon the thickness, about two years is a reasonable expectation.

Q: Does the Cholla wood need to be treated before being added to the aquarium?

A: No, the Cholla wood is organic and untreated. Boiling it for a few minutes can help it to sink faster.
