Mickey Mouse Platy (Xiphophorus maculatus) is a peaceful fish with red-orange and black coloring. Thrives in most aquariums, especially planted ones. Named after its round markings near the tail that resemble Mickey Mouse.
The Mickey Mouse Platy can coexist peacefully with most other aquarium species. While it may prey on smaller dwarf shrimp and their fry, it gets along well with other invertebrates. This fish isn't picky when it comes to food and will happily eat a variety of high-quality dry and frozen foods.
It typically hangs out in the middle and upper areas of the tank and has been known to take a leap of faith out of the water, especially in the beginning stages of adjusting to a new home. To prevent any escape attempts, it's best to have a secure lid for the tank.
