These Lotus Pods make great decorations for blackwater tanks and other setups. They offer shelter to fry, shrimp, crabs, snails, and fish while maintaining a natural aesthetic in your aquarium. They also serve as an excellent growth medium for biofilm and diatoms, which are essential food sources for a variety of aquatic animals, including fish and invertebrates.
Lotus Pods buffer aquarium pH with released tannins, beneficial for animals who prefer low pH, can also be sparingly used in high-pH setups with pH-raising decor.
These pods can be allowed to decompose in the aquarium. Lotus Pods may float initially, but can be weighed down and boiled to make them sink immediately in the aquarium. Do not use rocks to weigh them down when boiling since rocks can explode when boiled. However, other heavy decor can be used to initially weigh Lotus Pods down until they become waterlogged.
