The Koi Sanke Swordtail features beautiful three-color patterns! Some have the iconic swordtail, while others don't. These fish are collected for their unique patterning, similar to their much larger koi counterparts.

The Koi Sanke Swordtail (Xiphophorus helleri) is a vibrant swordtail variant with striking orange, black, and white/silver colors. Males may have a long "sword" at the bottom of their tail, and females can also develop this feature. Look for the male gonopodium near the anal fin to identify males. This unique fish is a descendant of the wild Green Swordtail (Xiphophorus helleri) and incorporates genetics from other Xiphophorus species for its distinctive color patterns.

Swordtails live near the surface of the water but also swim in the middle and bottom areas. They may jump, so keep them in a covered tank or with lowered water. They won't eat plants and can be with peaceful fish, preferably more females than males. Some swordtails may consider small shrimp as prey, but they can also be with larger, calm invertebrates. It's best to have a group of swordtails.

This fish isn't picky - it'll stay colorful with a varied diet of meaty foods! Accepts high-quality flake food, pellets, and frozen or freeze-dried tubifex and bloodworms.

Temperature: 64° - 82.4° F (16° - 28° C)
pH: 7.0 - 8.0
KH: 10 - 30 dKH
Minimum tank size: 10 gallons

CARE GUIDELINES:

Diet: Omnivorous. Will easily accept high quality dry and frozen foods.
Social behavior: Peaceful, schooling/shoaling.
Average adult size: 2.5 - 3 inches (6.3 - 7.5 cm)

Please arrange to pull these little guys right indoors once they arrive to your mailbox. USPS also has a free mail hold service on their website. Please utilize this service if no one can be home.

While in quarantine before being sold, we treat all our live fish with the ‘Med Trio’; Maracyn for Bacterial infections, Paracleanse for internal and external parasites, and Ich-X for fungal infections.

Post office tried to kill'em but failed

The post office took 9 days to deliver some swordtails and a bunch of plants. I had no doubt that everything would arrive like a brown soup. Well Grass Grown out smarted them and did a tremendous job packaging everything. All the fish survived ( although they desperately needed a cool bath) and only 2 plants didn't make it. I think it's important to note that on my first order everything arrived dead. The gang went into action to fix the problem and added the replacement fish to this order. Great people, great products. Males

They were healthy and happy. However 4 of the 6 were males (already had swords), so not a good ratio for a tank.
