Juncus repens, also commonly called "Creeping Rush" is an excellent beginner plant! Looking similar to Dwarf Sagittaria, Juncus repens is also an excellent carpet plant, and somewhat more delicate looking.
Plant en-masse for that awesome carpeted look, approximately a half inch apart. They send out side shoots that quickly spread. You can even grow this immersed in a boggy setup. Grow them with higher lighting to bring out the reds!
Their broad tolerance for aquarium conditions makes them an absolute favorite for aquarists across skill levels. No special lighting, water parameters or CO2 needed!
Available in different options to suit your aquascaping needs:
- Bare-root: One 4-8" tall plant with several nodes already attached; varies in its natural state
- Potted: More established in the potting medium
Grown both EMERGED AND SUBMERGED
Growing requirements:
- 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
- Ph 6-8
- Low to Medium light intensity
- Medium growth speed
- Grows 4" to 12" tall
As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there's always the possibility of harmless snail or dwarf shrimp hitchhikers!
