Just plop in your tank, and you'll have a mess of anchored Java moss(Vesicularia dubyana) in no time!
These are drifting, low light, and easy care plants. I love them in mine as they are great at sheltering fry and baby shrimplets, plus they do some serious heavy-lifting at biological filtration!
This order is for one clump of Java Moss, securely attached to a Lava rock for stability and anchoring. These will vary in their natural states, but will be about the size of a ping-pong ball, 2" up to three inches.
SUBMERGED-GROWN
Growing requirements:
- 65-80 Degrees Fahrenheit
- Ph 6-8
- Low light intensity.
- Medium Fast growth speed
- Co2 not needed
Java moss is a super plant all around. It requires very little in the way of light, temperature, or ferts. You will notice faster growth in a higher- maintenance aquarium, of course, but it isn't necessary. This is an excellent starter plant for freshwater aquariums.
My mosses love their community tanks, with minimal fertilizer and average light/ room temperatures. I do have snails in tanks, but no duckweed! If you'd absolutely rather not have snail hitchhikers, definitely look up how to do a bleach dip.
You'll receive yours burrito- wrapped and heat sealed in a plastic baggie to retain moisture and oxygen.
As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there’s always a chance of harmless hitchhikers like snails or dwarf shrimp tagging along with your plants!
I personally keep several beneficial snail species in my tanks, including Colorful Ramshorns, Bronze Bladder and Pond Snails, Mini Rams, and Malaysian Trumpet Snails. These snails stay relatively small, help clean the aquarium, and do not eat healthy plants or cause harm. I’m reaching out regarding Order #10510, which included three Java on a Lava moss-covered rocks.
I completely understand that live plants can have a difficult trip through the mail and that some browning, melting, or shedding can happen along the way. I know these things sometimes occur despite everyone’s best efforts, so I’m hoping you can take a look and let me know what you think.
All three rocks arrived predominantly brown or olive-colored, with only limited green growth visible. Before placing them in the aquarium, I gently rinsed and soaked them in AquaSafe-treated, dechlorinated water. The rinse water became extremely dirty, and a considerable amount of loose moss and plant material detached and fell into the water. It seemed substantially beyond the normal amount of debris or shedding I would expect while preparing aquarium plants.
Because some green material remained, I placed the rocks in my established aquarium rather than immediately assuming they were completely dead. However, their overall condition is considerably different from the healthy green moss pictured in the listing, and I’m concerned that much of it may no longer be viable.
I’ve attached several photos showing their condition immediately after installation, along with a photograph of the package and legible shipping label.
Would you please take a look and let me know whether this appears to be normal shipping stress that should recover? If you believe the plants arrived in poorer condition than expected, I would appreciate whatever replacement, refund, or store-credit solution you feel is appropriate.
