"Love this shop! Everything shipped so fast and packaging was super eco friendly! A+ from me!"

Giant duckweed is a larger, more manageable version of the regular duckweed you see sneaking everywhere in the aquarium trade. This type has beautiful purple undersides as well!

"Spirodela polyrhiza" is the largest type of duckweed (although tiny at 1cm), and is native to Florida. Ours is homegrown in Kansas!

One portion is equal to 10+ plantlets, many already budding! This is plenty to start a 10 gallon tank.

Care Parameters:

  • Lower light requirements
  • 45-85 degrees Fahrenheit
  • No special tank requirements
  • Food source for reptiles
  • Fast growth, low maintenance

2oz portion is roughly a small condiment cup size.

As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there’s always a chance of harmless hitchhikers like snails or dwarf shrimp tagging along with your plants!

I personally keep several beneficial snail species in my tanks, including Colorful Ramshorns, Bronze Bladder and Pond Snails, Mini Rams, and Malaysian Trumpet Snails. These snails stay relatively small, help clean the aquarium, and do not eat healthy plants or cause harm. However, if you’d rather avoid any hitchhikers, I highly recommend checking out our blog on how to safely disinfect aquarium plants before adding them to your tank:
How to Bleach Dip Aquarium Plants Safely

All plants are freshly snipped or harvested and packed right before shipment. I take great care in preparing every order and use methods that have consistently produced the best results over many years in the hobby. A lot of love goes into every package, so please don’t leave your plants sitting in a hot mailbox for too long 🙏

Thank you for looking, aqua friends! 💚

Duck Weed

If you want a healthy floating plant, look no further! 2oz doesn’t seem like a lot, but it will soon take over your tank!

EXCELLENT Duckweed!

I've been looking for a surface plant to cut some of the light reaching further into a few of my tanks. In my goldfish tank, they gobbled regular duckweed faster than it could grow, so I decided on Giant Duckweed to fill the need.

Full Disclosure: I'd tried getting some Giant Duckweed from another source first. What they sent .... was garbage. Literally. So when I saw that Glass Grown had what I wanted, I was hesitant ... because of my experience elsewhere ... but I went ahead and got four orders to cover several larger tanks. What I received was VERY generous, and VERY healthy ... and has just continued to thrive in both tanks I put it it. In the goldfish tank, they nibble, but that's about it. I also have it in a bichir tank, and it gives cover for the baby guppies that share the tank (until they're lunch).

Great stuff. As were all the plants I received in that order. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Giant Duckweed

Good filler but I prefer Red Root Floaters.

Perfect!

I was looking for a good floater for two of my tanks, GlassGrown had the right plant at a terrific price.
I got a bit concerned, as after New Year's Day the USPS seemed to take their own sweet time delivering; they took a week to get here ... and I was a tad nervous in opening the package on arrival. No worries, the duckweed was just a tiny bit pale, and within two days in my tanks had already darkened considerably. A week later, and you wouldn't even have known they hadn't been there from the start.
Oh, and portion sizes were generous to boot! They'll definitely get my business again!
