It's that time of year again, folks!
Add one Heat Pack per order to ensure your new friend's comfort during shipping.

Heat packs aren't required but are highly recommended. Orders without them won't be covered by our Live Arrival Guarantee if your local weather is below 40°F.

Beautiful Rosy coloration, hardy and dependable! Just an excellent all- round beginner fish for an active, community Nano aquarium.

This species (Hyphessobrycon amandae) is originally from South America. Their natural habitat is somewhat acidic, being full of tannins and dark leaf litter with lots of vegetation and floating plants. Mimic these slow moving, murky rivers with lots of leaf litter, driftwood, seed pods, and alder cones!

These display the best coloring and behavior while in groups of 6+, and will grow to a maximum of 1 inch. Tiny little jewels!

They are a little shy, but absolutely love live food such as brine shrimp, Artemia, and other micro fauna. While omnivorous, be sure to feed them a higher protein diet with a bit of vegetable flake here and there.

Your Tetras will be young, without full adult coloration, and between 3/4" to 1" long.

Like many fish, Males will be more deeply colored than females. The ladies will be paler, and rounder :)

Care Parameters:

  • Peaceful community fish
  • Growth to a maximum of 1"
  • 3-5 year life span

Water Parameters:
  • PH: 5.0- 7.0 (slightly more acidic water preferred)
  • Temperature: 68- 82 Degrees
  • Hardness: 3- 12 dH
I ship insulated with medicated water, and Purigen, by tracked and insured USPS Priority only, and use cool packs when needed.
Do consider purchasing a heat pack if the temperatures in your area are below 40 degrees!

Please arrange to pull these little guys right indoors once they arrive to your mailbox. USPS also has a free mail hold service on their website. Please utilize this service if no one can be home.

While in quarantine before being sold, we treat all our live fish with the ‘Med Trio’; Maracyn for bacterial infections, Paracleanse for internal and external parasites, and Ich-X for fungal infections.

Consistently great!

This is I believe my third or fourth order of fish from here. Every single time has been a fantastic experience. My embers are absolutely beautiful and started coloring up within about 30 minutes of joining the rest of my school (also all from here). Prices are more than fair and quality shines through. This has become my go to recommendation when I hear people are looking for fish to add to their collections.

Great little fishies

Great little fishies. Super lively and fun to see dart around the tank. One didn’t make it in shipping, but the rest are fun.

Horrible

Sorry guys. The shipping materials are absolutely garbage. The fish were swimming in ammonia upon arrival. Why would you ship fish in the worst way possible? Oxygen is important. Do not order. Everyone does better then this.

Review for your eyes only, not meant to be posted

The embers are great! The problem is shipping. According to google maps, Lawrence, KS and Charleston, WV - where I live - are almost 800 miles apart. This time the shipping took five days. The time before that, it only took three days. The embers arrived with one DOA. I thought the others were fine, but they weren't. By day six, they had developed ick. However, I treated them successfully by following the "Father Fish" method. (FF has a channel on YouTube). I think that five days in transit was overly stressful for them. How can this problem of prolonged shipping be resolved? Three days in transit is ok, but five is a bit too much, IMO.

1 week later, and the tetras are all still doing great! Love watching them zip around the tank. They have already grown a bit, too! They really take great care in shipping healthy fish, this was my 3rd order with them and I'm super happy.
