Echinodorus 'Tricolor' originates from the Czech Republic and was introduced to the hobby in 2004.
Its variety name derives from the various colors its leaves can display. The leaves are oblong-ovate with a pointed tip, and can reach 15 cm in length and 8 cm in width. The leaf stalks can grow up to 15 cm in length.
This plant is easy to maintain and thrives in medium light, producing adventitious plants and flower stalks in the aquarium.
This particular Echinodorus cultivar stands out from others with its unique light green coloration, rather than the more common red hues.It looks best as solitary plant in the midground, in taller tanks also in the foreground.
Swords (Echinodorus) are one of the most difficult aquatic plants to kill. They won't need anything special in terms of lighting, filtration, or temperatures, and pretty much do just fine no matter what.
Swords are hearty plants, similar to things like Java fern or Anubias; so if you have fish that are nippy and like to dig (small cichlids, loaches, goldfish etc), these plants will work for your set up.
Bare-root rosette is 5-10" tall, varies in it's natural state.

As I like to keep real ecosystems in my aquariums, there's always the possibility of harmless snail or dwarf shrimp hitchhikers!
